Can a seam weld be repaired?

Some facilities have respot operations to repair missing or known defective spot welds. They frequently perform this with spot or mig welds. These are meant to be temporary measures that always seem to have a reason to continue for one weld or another.
After consulting with others none were aware of anyone doing repair on seam welds.

If you were to consider seam weld repair, Engineering design, economics and quality will decide repair vs making a good seam weld the first time.

If the space is there another row of seam welds can parallel the original. Or several individual spots or Mig welds could repair an area. The product will dictate if this is feasibility and of course economics.
